4 à 4 MétroBarbèsRochechou Art (1980-83) is a four-hand "trans-FILM-tran¬ses" directed and written in 1980 and 1983 by the MétroBarbèsRochechou art collective, a group founded in 1977 that counts among its members Gaël Badaud, Teo Hernández, Jakobois and Michel Nedjar. The film allows us to consider the friends’ collaboration and collective work that was at the core of the MétroBarbèsRochechou art collective and to consider how their collective method allowed each of them to assert their singularities and differences
5 p.m. Discussion followed by a drink
Villa Vassilieff thanks Centre Pompidou — MNAM CCI and Michel Nedjar.
La langue de Teo is a program that aim at fueling and developing the curatorial research project Teo Hernández: Breaking Appearances by gathering a collaborative platform of experts, researchers, curators, and artists connected to practices and themes addressed by the neo-avant-garde Mexican artist, Teo Hernández. After a three-month in-depth immersion into the artist’s archives, conversations and interviews with colleagues, relatives and artists related to his work in Mexico and France and aware of the cross-territorial dimension of this project, the research team and curators would like to insert voices, readings and external interrogations into the project in order to weave a critical dialogue on the life and work of the artist. These discussions will give the occasion to dive into the blurred frontiers between artistic research and practice, theory and context during a collective discussion. While remaining opened to digressions and multiple threads of conversation, this semi-public program primarily aims at exploring, discussing and tackling on – through a diversity of perspectives stretching from visual perception to philosophy through experimental cinema, performance and queer studies, cultural studies and art history – the remarkable work of this artist who lived in Paris most of his life.
The team includes Andrea Ancira (art critic and curator – Pernod Ricard Fellow), Anaïs Bouts (choreographer and performer), Dalia Huerta (film director), Tania Solomonoff (choreographer and performer), Regina Tattersfield (art historian) and Rodrigo Valero (artist).
The program follows a series of screenings organized and hosted by the Centre Pompidou-MNAM CCI ’s Film Collection Service from Friday, April 15 to Saturday 17 – Cinéma 2.
This event will give way to a micro-edition published by Villa Vassilieff.
This program is organized thanks to the support of the Pernod Ricard Fellowship program at Villa Vassilieff. It continues the work began on the curatorial research platform « Technologies, audiovisual medias and artistic experimentations » at Centro de la Imagen’s (Mexico DF), where Andrea Ancira and Regina Tattersfield will organize and exhibition in March 2017.
